EssayHave is a Hong Kong-incorporated academic writing agency that has been around since 2008. While the company provides services for English-speaking students, not all writers are ENL, and some support offices are in Latvia and Ukraine. Whatever I feel about EssayHave, scam it is not. They did provide a service for the money, though its quality was far from perfect.
Essay writing is the company’s specialty. I couldn’t find any other services on their website, such as editing or proofreading. EssayHave will neither help you with your resume, nor a cover letter, but they can craft a business plan, dissertation chapter, or a journal article. The subjects list is divided into sections, including Humanities, Applied Sciences, Business Studies, and more. There are only four academic levels to choose from: high school, two undergraduate options, and the Master’s level.
High school writing prices start at $10 per page and go all the way up to $31, depending on the deadline. Every page of undergraduate writing will cost $13 or $16, depending on the year, while Masters-level pieces come at $22 per page. My 3-page-long essay cost $57 because of a 5-day deadline. According to some reviewers, there’s a loyalty program in place, though I couldn’t find any promo codes and paid the full price.
I couldn’t find a single Essay Have review on Trustpilot, and my EssayHave Reddit search returned zero results despite many positive testimonials on the company website. SiteJabber search was more fruitful and returned a 3.5-star rating based on seven reviews. I was most concerned with feedback that documented a 40% plagiarized paper. Additionally, I noticed complaints about poor writing quality.
The EssayHave customer service live chat is one of those annoying types that makes you type in the question before connecting with the agent only to have you repeat it again. Holly was quick to answer, though most of her answers looked a little robotic. She seemed to have missed my question altogether and bombarded me with generic phrases.
There are only seven days to request a revision if you don’t like the paper. Despite re-reading the policy several times, I did not understand how long the changes would take. The essayhave.com refund rules are even more confusing. For example, if your order is late on an 11-day deadline or more, you can get no more than 7% of the price. If you want a refund based on poor quality, be ready to prove your claims. The company can even request you to submit your version of the paper to substantiate the allegations. Meanwhile, they’ll publish the piece you want to be refunded on their website. Whether your paper will be safe in Essay Have hands is questionable despite their assurances.
The order form is straightforward. It didn’t give me much trouble, and I had everything filled within five minutes. Aside from the number of citations, I was surprised by additional boxes for charts and slides, priced at $8.50 per each. Since I hadn’t created an account beforehand, I used the order form to fill in my contact information and sign up.
Let me start with good news, and tell you that the paper was properly structured, had a logical and well-rounded thesis and conclusion. The bad news was that the paper had obviously been written by a non-native English speaker. The awkward phrasing and strange idioms were a dead giveaway. Moreover, the writer did not bother with researching industry-specific journals and books and instead used the first five Google search results as references. As a result, sound reasoning was destroyed by poor writing and weak evidence.
I did not get any of the additional features, as most of them seemed unnecessary at the time, though I would have added and ENL writer (+30%) to my order had I known the writing would be so awkward. I might have also considered getting their writing samples ($5) or a copy of the sources ($14.95). I did not really understand the concept of the Smart Paper (+20%), so that was never a consideration. My order was also worth significantly less than $200, so there was no chance or need to get progressive delivery (+10%).
Is essayhave.com legit? It might produce good results if you can afford to hire an ENL writer, upload the references you want them to use, and double check the paper for plagiarism. I did none of these things and was disappointed with the results. A quick summary of my take on this company includes:
