CoolEssay is a UK-based online writing company that helps students across the US, Australia, and the UK. With a modern-looking website and round-the-clock support, the agency seems professional and trustworthy at first glance. However, when I looked beneath the surface and focused on the fine print, I started doubting my choice. Is CoolEssay legit? Read on to get my take and make an educated decision.
Aside from writing various kinds of academic papers, Cool Essay can also edit, proofread, and rewrite your text. The business writing service pack includes content, CV, resume, and cover letter writing. The homepage hosts the company’s top writers complete with the number of completed papers, customer reviews, and success rate. The “Hire” button lets you pick among the best writers to work on your project.
Coolessay.net prices are average for the industry, starting at $10 per page for high school level on a 14-day deadline. College students have to pay $13.50 to $17 per page, while postgraduate writing is $26 to $27 per page. The 3-page essay I ordered was delivered within the 5-day deadline I specified and put me back $50.70. Unfortunately, I got no CoolEssay promo code offers as a first-time client, so I had to pay the full price.
Coolessay.net rating on Trustpilot confused me a little, as all reviews had 5 stars, but the overall score was only 4 stars. However, I didn’t trust the feedback much, as it seemed too positive and scripted. CoolEssay reviews on SiteJabber, on the other hand, were far more informative. With only 3 stars to its name, the company produces mediocre pieces and does not satisfy money-back requests, according to several reviewers.
I used live chat to learn more about writing samples, as I did not want to pay $5 for getting samples from a specific writer. Roxy got in touch with me immediately. She provided me with a link to a samples page I must have missed when I skimmed through the website menu. Overall, my customer support experience was pleasant, Roxy answered my queries quickly, she was friendly and open, ready to help me with any further questions. It was a definite upside to my dealings with the company.
That’s where my good first impression went down the drain. According to the Revision Policy, you must request at least three (!) revisions from the writer to ask the company to replace them. Moreover, they can charge 50% to 75% of the paper price for revision, depending on your instructions even if you submit a revision request within 10 days. Deadlines are 2 or 3 hours minimum and can be extended.
If you expect a refund, you must order at least two revisions, and even then you’ll need a good reason to get your money back. If your order was late, and the deadline you’d set had been 7 days or more, you can get only 10% of the paper price. If quality is lacking, you can spend weeks and months arguing your side of the open dispute to receive a refund.
So is coolessay.net scam? However sketchy their policies are, I don’t think they will steal your money, but getting a revision or a refund will be nearly impossible.
The order form was a little intimidating with lots of fields, checkboxes, and toggles. While the first part was mostly straightforward and required information on the topic, subject, and formatting, I got stuck on the second step that comes with the deadline and word count fields along with extra features. These gave me pause, and I’ll get into it in a second. CoolEssay discount code field is right at the bottom of the page, but I didn’t have the coupon to use, so I skipped straight to payment.
My main issue with the essay I got was that it could be three times shorter. The writer obviously did not spend much time researching the topic, choosing to fill the paper with meaningless filler sentences and opinionated ramblings instead of solid arguments, evidence, and analysis. If I wanted to turn this in, I’d have to add at least two more pages to meet college professors’ typical requirements.
As I’ve mentioned in this Cool Essay review, their additional features caught my attention, and not in a good way. For example, there’s an option to get the writer’s samples for $5. It’s not a huge sum, but shouldn’t those samples be available for free? Editor’s services add 30% to the order total, meaning the writers can’t edit the papers without extra help. Turnitin report is $14 for 4400 words, and is the most surprising of all add-ons, as the company warns not to use this plagiarism checker if you don’t want your professor to see your paper is 100% plagiarized. I would not recommend using this feature unless you are 100% sure your school does not use Turnitin to check student papers for plagiarism.
Will CoolEssay fraud you out of your money? No, but you will likely be disappointed with the paper you get for the money you pay. I certainly did not enjoy the essay I received, and I wouldn’t come back for more, but you should decide for yourself. Here’s a recap of the company’s ups and downs to help you:
